Who is responsible for your data
We turn a photo you upload into AI-generated artwork, available as a digital download and, optionally, as a physical print. To do this we process personal data. The controller responsible for this processing is Dixels B.V., registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under 59974907, VAT number NL853716833B01, with its registered office at Slenterweg 3, 6905 DM Zevenaar.
If you have any question about your data, you can reach us at info@dixels.com.
Which personal data we process
The photo you upload. This photo is personal data. It may show one or more identifiable people, including you, and may reveal details about them. We treat every upload as data that requires care.
Order and contact data, such as your name, email address, delivery address for physical prints, the products you order and your order history.
Payment data. Your payment is handled by our payment provider. We receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction details, but we do not store full card or bank account numbers ourselves.
Functional storage on your device, such as the contents of your basket and your cookie or consent choices, so the shop works correctly.
Usage data through privacy-friendly, first-party analytics. We measure how the site is used in an aggregated way and do not use this to build advertising profiles about you.
Why we process it and on what legal basis
To create your artwork, handle your order, deliver the download, arrange any physical print and provide support. Legal basis: performance of the contract with you.
To keep records required by law, such as our financial and tax administration. Legal basis: compliance with a legal obligation.
To run privacy-friendly analytics and any non-essential cookies. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
To keep our service secure, prevent abuse and improve our product. Legal basis: our legitimate interest, weighed against your rights.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We only share it with service providers that help us run the service, and we make a processor agreement with each of them. We share by category:
Payment provider Shopify (Shopify Payments: iDEAL, Klarna, creditcard), to process your payment securely.
AI image provider OpenRouter (Google Gemini), to generate the artwork from your photo.
Analytics providers Google (Analytics/Ads) and Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and session insights), which run in a cookieless mode by default and fully after your consent, and Meta, only with your consent, to understand and improve the shop.
Shipping platform Sendy and the carriers PostNL and DPD, to deliver posters we print in our own studio (name and delivery address only).
OpenAI (ChatGPT Ads measurement), only after your consent, to measure whether an ad led to a preview or order.
Email provider MailerSend, to send order confirmations and recovery emails. These emails may contain open and click measurement so we can see whether they arrive and which links are used.
Hosting and content delivery provider, to host the website and store files securely.
We may also share data where we are legally required to do so.
No training on your photos
We do not use your uploaded photos or your finished artwork to train AI models, and we instruct our AI image provider not to use your content to train their models either. Your photo is used only to create your artwork.
How long we keep your data
We keep uploaded photos only for a short period needed to generate and deliver your artwork, after which they are deleted. You can also ask us to delete an upload sooner.
We keep order, invoice and payment records for as long as the law requires us to, which for our financial administration is currently seven years.
Consent and cookie choices are kept for the period needed to respect your preference.
International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, we make sure an appropriate safeguard is in place, such as an adequacy decision or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. You can ask us for more detail about this.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict its processing, to data portability, and to object to processing based on our legitimate interest. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, which does not affect processing that already took place.
To use any of these rights, including a request to delete an uploaded photo or result, contact us at info@dixels.com. We respond within the legal term.
If you are not satisfied, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Cookies and consent
We use cookies and similar storage that are necessary for the shop to work, and, only with your consent, privacy-friendly analytics. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through our cookie settings.
